HOW TO CHECK WINDOWS ACTIVATION

YOU CAN CHECK WETHER YOU ARE USING AN ACTIVATED WINDOWS OR NOT.
 
START – RUN
TYPE     oobe/msoobe  /a
If your windows is not activated the activation window appears and seeks activation.
 
If it is activated a “WINDOWS IS ALREADY ACTIVATED” window appears

HOW TO CREATE A MESSAGE SCREEN IN WINDOWS THAT APPEAR BEFORE YOU LOGON

NOTE: Before doing this you have to make a backup of your Registry.


 
Making a backup of Registry
START – RUN
Type - regedit click OK
File   Export
Change the export range to ALL
Give a File Name and Save.
Double click on the saved file to Restore Registry.
STEPS
START – RUN
Type - regedit click OK
Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES
Expand SOFTWARE
Expand Microsoft
Expand Windows NT
Expand current version
Click Winlogon
Double click Legal Notice Caption
Give the Caption
Double click Legal Notice Text
Give the Text that you want to display
Restart your machine.

HOW TO MAKE A LAN CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO COMPUTERS

Here describes to make a Peer to Peer connection between two computers
 
COMPONENTS REQUIRED
 
LAN CARD OR BUILT IN LAN IN TWO SYSTEMS
CROSS CRIMPED CABLE (EASILY AVAILABLE IN COMPUTER HARDWARE SHOP)
 
IN TWO SYSTEMS
 
Make sure your LAN card or built in LAN is properly installed and working.
Plug the two ends in the LAN port of the two systems.
 
 
IN FIRST SYSTEM
 
Start-control panel-Network connections
Right click Local area connection and select properties.
NOTE: Local area connection icon appears only if your LAN card driver is installed
In General tab select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
Select Use the following IP address
 
 
Give the IP address and Subnet mask.
(Eg: 192.168.10.11  subnet is 255.255.255.0)
Click ok
In the local area connection properties Tick the “show icon in notification area when connected”
Click Close
Start – control panel- system
Select computer name tab click Change button
Give a suitable name in Computer name box
(Eg: sys 1)
Change the Workgroup to a desired name
(Eg: home)
Click OK then Apply- OK
Welcome message appear System seeks restart
Restart the system.
 
IN SECOND SYSTEM
 
Start-control panel-Network connections
Right click Local area connection and select properties.
NOTE: Local area connection icon appears only if your LAN card driver is installed
In General tab select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
Select Use the following IP address
Give IP address with same Network ID with Different Host ID
(Eg: 192.168.10.12 subnet is 255.255.255.0)
Click OK
In the local area connection properties Tick the “show icon in notification area when connected”
Click Close
Start – control panel- system
Select computer name tab click Change button
Give a suitable name in Computer name box that not same as in First System
(Eg: sys 2)
Change the Workgroup to a desired name that same as in the First System
(Eg: home)
Click OK then Apply- OK
Welcome message appear System seeks restart
Restart the system
 
YOUR SHARED FOLDER IS NOW AVAILABLE BETWEEN TWO SYSTEMS
 
If no connection is between two computers disable Firewall.

HOW TO CHECK WETHER SMPS IS WORKING OR NOT.

Take a small piece of wire and connect one end in GREEN wire port and other in the BLACK. Switch ON the supply if the fan in the smps is working the smps is good. If not open the cover and check whether the Capacitors inside the Smps is bulged on the top. If bulged replace the capacitor with the same value of the earlier.Check the voltages with a multimeter.

Mole x gives power supply to IDE drives
Mini Molex gives power supply to floppy drive.

Computer Support Long Beep Sound No Display on Compter monitor


Sometimes a Computer gives a Long Beep sound continuously and no display will be available one the Computer Monitor screen with blank.

Solution :
1. Make sure that the Ram on the Mother board is properly seated.
             2. If the above does not work Replace another Ram of the Same speed will work

How to Delete Startup Items in xp


To delete starup items Just follow this steps :

Click "Start Menu" - Go to "Run" - Type "msconfig"
goto "startup tab" uncheck the unwanted software applications there. so when the system boots up no unwanted applications will load when desktop appears.

Caution :
Donot Uncheck all items, otherwise your system may wont bootup , uncheck only unwanted software applications.

Disk Read Error Press "ctrl + alt +del" to Restart


This it the Most comman Problem that Many Hard disk will get Due to media reading problem of the Hard disks. This problem repeat many times when even after pressing ctrl+alt+del button.

Solution 1. Give the Hard disk for Warranty if your Hard disk is in warranty
              2. Replacing the Hard disk data-cable some time will rectify the problem of  the Hard disk.
            3. Try to use the DM ( Disk Management ) utility that comes with Win-98 cd for Seagate Hard   disks only, if you Have some other Hard disks like Samsung, Maxtor, Western digital try to use the low level format of the Hard disk tools that comes  with Hiren's Boot Cd. Its is a very useful and freeware cd, which has many Hard disk tools...

PC keeps on Restarting What is the Problem


It is a comman problem that every pc user will definitely get this problem. There may be lot of reasons for this problem. You might get this type of problems :

  • System gets Restarted Showing " Start windows Normally "
  • System gets Restats without stop like a loop.
  •  Sytem is infected by "Virus"

Solution : For the First one the proble is most likely to the Operating system problem, if it is try to reinstall the operating system. or when you install a new Harware and when this Hardware might be problem Like installing Ram, try that the ram is properly reseated and working Ram. For the above second problem when the Processor gets over Heated the system gets Restarted, check if it is overheating. Try using Heatsink paste and replacing an Heatsink will solve the problem. It may also be a motherboard problem, the processor get heated due to motherboard problem, try replacing the processor and check it. And the most common problem when the system reboots itself is  SMPS (Power  Sullply) Try replacing the SMPS will solve the problem.
And Finally if your system may be restarted due to Virus Problem ,Format the C: drive (OS drive) and clean your system with the Latest Definition Anti virus Like Quick Heal Antivirus (Recommended by me) , Kaspersky or E-set Nod32.
